Hello Marine Corps friends and family --

We usually have a Christmas party, but this year I am arranging for a Christmas DINNER at Piesanos (where we had our last very successful Valentines party).  A party at my clubhouse would have involved a lot of work (for me and the committee), so for this year, at least, a dinner is the best option.

Whenever our league gets together, we always have an awesome time.  For some of us, it's the only time we see each other.  It's great to reconnect with old friends (that are like family), especially in the spirit of the holiday season.  I made the reservation, and just need to know the number of attendees.  It will be held as follows:

Prior to the meeting a free lunch will be served by Mission BBQ who is prepared to feed up to 20 of our members. Those having memorabilia (military coins, patches or a picture of you in uniform) that they would like to donate to Mission BBQ for display in their restaurant, may bring it to give to their Community Ambassador - Kristy Morris. South Lake Marine Corps League Detachment #1120 will provide Color Guard Support to South Lake Little League at their 10:00 AM Event at Palatlakaha Park. We are proud to support this organizations efforts in developing our youth, some of which may go on to serve our country further in the future.

Our Detachment Honor Guard will provide Rifle Salute at this special Ceremony just as we have done in past years. Please come out and bring your friends to show your support. Members who are not in Honor Guard, suggested attire: MCL Cover and Red Shirt.

The memorial ceremony is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, September 11, at 10 aM at the Clermont Arts and Recreation Center, located at 3700 South Highway 27. All members of the community are encouraged to attend this free event to show their respect and solidarity.

This gathering offers a chance to reflect on the impact of 9/11, honor the bravery of first responders, and remember the victims whose lives were tragically cut short. The event serves as a poignant reminder of the strength and resilience of our nation in the face of adversity.
