The Marine Corps League was founded in 1923 by World War I veteran and Commandant of the Marine Corps, Major General John A. Lejeune. It is the only federally chartered veterans organization for the U.S. Marine Corps, having received its official congressional charter signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on August 4, 1937.
Since 2002, the South Lake Detachment #1120 of the Marine Corps League has welcomed all U.S. Marines and Fleet Marine Force (FMF) designated Navy personnel, including their family and friends for support, fellowship, and fun.
Our Detachment proudly provides a color guard for public events as well as honor guards for funerals and/or memorial services for Marine and FMF designated veterans.

COMMANDANT’S MISSION STATEMENT
No greater honor exists than to protect that which we cherish most: our faith, our Country, our family, and our Detachment. We are each individually different, yet still distinctly the same, a member of the Southlake Detachment 1120. You have heard it time and time again, we are a family. He's your brother, she's your sister; treat each other accordingly. We have a time-honored tradition of taking care of our own. Treating each other with respect remains crucial to preserving a strong, cohesive detachment. Recruitment, Retention, and Fundraising are top priorities. We must make sure our members are well-informed on what's going on in the detachment and around the League. We stand apart from others and march to the beat of a different drum. Honor, Courage, Commitment. Live by these Core Values, and accept nothing less!
